The Wash Common Community Association
The Wash Common Community Centre is run by The Wash Common Community Association which is a registered charity and totally independently run with no regular support from any other body. Its aim is to provide a venue available for all local residents to use and enjoy.
We need the income from our activities and lettings to keep the centre in good repair.
A Brief History...
It was in 1970 that an area survey of Wash Common and, in particular the Bovis Battle development area indicated the need for a Community Centre.
A working party was set up and over the following 7 years fund raising events were organised by a small but hard working group of local people. Events included jumble sales, cheese and wine parties, a donkey derby and an entry into the Crafty Craft race.
A site was then acquired, a lease agreed and work on the building of the Centre commenced. This was completed in July 1978 when an official opening took place.
Now 35 years old, The Centre continues to be a focal point for a wide range of activities for local residents. Details of these activities will be found within this website.
